It is an act of using another party’s computer for mining cryptocurrency without their consent. Cryptojacking can be performed in multiple ways of which the most common ones include the use of trojans and the “drive-by” cryptojacking. Additionally, two common kinds of cryptojacking exist such as file-based and browser-based. The process is mostly used to mine the privacy coins such as Monero (XMR) since they are difficult to trace.
