Infinite Mint Attack

« Back to Glossary Index

An infinite mint attack is said to have happened when an unwanted entity or malicious actor mints an absurd or infinite amount of the tokens within a protocol. This increases the supply to an unhealthy amount and debases the value of individual tokens. Additionally, the attackers might attempt to dump all the minted tokens on the crypto market and cause the price to crash. The attack lets the attackers bag millions of dollars worth of tokens.
