Chipotle Accepts Crypto: The US-Based Restaurant Partners With Flexa

The most popular Mexican-style fast-food restaurant chain, Chipotle, has entered into the cryptocurrency mass adoption. Now Chipotle accepts crypto payments via Flexa, which is a digital payments platform. The online payment platform is compatible with nearly 98 cryptocurrencies. This includes Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH). Customers in the United States can now use the app to pay for food items in nearly 3000 Chipotle restaurants. The company possibly will become the largest U.S based restaurant chain to accept cryptocurrency.

In the bid to pay with Flexa, the customers are required to download the SPEDN app or Gemini wallet that will help them to store their digital currencies. Then they can use the application on their phones and tap it in-store for making payments in cryptocurrencies. Flexa mentions that it processes the payments in under a second and then settles in either fiat or crypto with Chipotle.

Already a lot of restaurants have joined the crypto mass adoption and now Chipotle accepts crypto. The very first restaurant to accept in-store crypto payments in Bitcoins was Subway which started as early as 2013. Following Subway accepts Bitcoin strategy, Pizza Hut also started to accept cryptocurrencies in Venezuela in 2020. With Starbucks, the experience was a bit different but in a good way. It permitted its reward members to convert cryptocurrencies to cash balances on the Starbucks app, making use of a third-party app. However, Starbucks does not accept crypto through Flexa.

Here is a tweet from Litecoin after Chipotle has included Litecoin (LTC) into its list of accepted crypto payments at their outlets in the United States.

Several other restaurant chains are experimenting with blockchain and cryptocurrencies in other methods. They are actually attempting to create hybrid digital-physical experiences. Carl’s Jr., Chick-fil-A, KFC and Taco Bell are some restaurants that accept cryptocurrency and have lately filed for brand trademarks for NFTs. Crypto payments have been continuously evolving with the inclusion of a lot of brands including mostly the restaurant chains. This is solely owing to the fact that digital coins such as Bitcoin and others are becoming more mainstream. The potential benefits of integrating digital currencies in the payment systems include flexible payment options for the customers and the more secure transactions that are enabled by the blockchain.

As Chipotle accepts crypto, the best thing one can enjoy apart from their favorite burrito is that Flexa is offering 10% off on the customer’s upcoming Chipotle order when they choose to pay via Flexa using a cryptocurrency.
