It is a field of study and practice that involves secure information, stopping the third parties from reading the information that is not meant for them. It is a by default thing in a lot of computer communication. Amongst its several applications are the hash functions such as SHA-256 that is used to secure the operation of the network of Bitcoin and the various other cryptocurrencies.
