It is the utilization of the deception for manipulating people into performing an action or even giving away their secret information. This simply means that it uses human interactions in order to trick the users into making errors that compromise their various confidential information or simply giving it away. The various types of social engineering techniques include pretexting, phishing, spear phishing and baitings.
