A cryptoasset is any digital asset using the cryptographic technologies for maintaining its operations as a decentralized application or currency. These assets leverage consensus algorithms, cryptography, distributed ledgers, peer-to-peer (P2P) technology and/or smart contracts that helps it to function as a medium of exchange, store of value, decentralized application (DApp) or unit of account. The common types of cryptoassets include cryptocurrencies, security tokens, utility tokens and stablecoins.
