Relay Chain

It is the central chain that is used by the Polkadot network. The chain deliberately possesses minimal functionality and thus the smart contracts are not supported. The primary task of this chain is to coordinate all the overall system and the connected parachains as well as the Nominated Proof-of-Stake (NPoS). All the Polkadot validators stake the native DOT tokens of the network and validate the Relay Chain.
