The CFTC or the Commodity Futures Trading Commission is an independent federal regulatory agency that is responsible for regulating the U.S. derivatives market that includes the swaps, futures and several kinds of options by promoting integrity and resilience. This helps in prohibiting fraudulent activity in these markets. The CFTC had been founded back in 1974 with the enactment of the Commodity Futures Trading Commissions Act.
