It is the acronym of the term Special Purpose Acquisition Company, which is formed by the investors in the bid to publicly list an organization without going through the troubles coming with the traditional IPO process. They possess no commercial operations and are formed having the purpose of acquiring an existing company. They are usually formed by the group of investors known as the sponsors where they possess the intention of pursuing deals in a specific industry.
