CBSE Introduces Blockchain Technology For Easy Education
While stating this to various media houses, Antriksh Johri, Director of Information and Technology, CBSE asserted on 26 September 2021,
“Blockchain implementation has been done by CBSE. Earlier we introduced Artificial intelligence (AI) and Machine learning (ML) for affiliation systems. Here, the data is linked and stored with cryptographic security so that it is immutable and traceable.”
He further added,
“This will serve as a single source of truthful data for verification for students going for higher education or employment.”
CBSE adopted Blockchain technology, by joining hands with the Centre of Excellence for Blockchain Technology of National Informatics Centre, which falls under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology for the formulation of the ‘Academic Documents’ software.
How Does Blockchain Operate?
A blockchain is often defined as a Distributed Ledger Technology which makes any digital asset transparent and unalterable via the use of decentralization and cryptography hashing. A plain analogy to understand the concept of blockchain technology is a Google Doc. When a document is being created and is being shared with a group of people the whole document is distributed instead of being transferred or copied. This develops a decentralized distribution pattern that offers everyone access to the document at the same time. There are blockchains of many types like Ethereum blockchain, Bitcoin blockchain, etc.
But having said that, the two most unique features of blockchain are that it is decentralized, so there is no intervention of any third party, and the other feature is that a blockchain keeps all the information and transactions anonymous. Nobody can have access to any of your information at any cost.
Ethereum Blockchain On Diploma Certificates
The Government of Maharashtra recently said that there will be a partnership with a startup on Indian Blockchain LegitDoc, for the implementation of Ethereum diploma certificate verification. This will formulate a blockchain based certificate verification platform. Let us now see how the Ethereum blockchain works.
To face the increase in document tampering, the Maharashtra State Board of Skill Development (MSBSD) disagrees with India’s crypto ban strategy of using Ethereum-based public blockchains. In an interview, the CEO of Neil Martis focused on the fact that while the certificate verification is being done using the traditional manual method, the Maharashtra State Board of Skill Development will start using the Ethereum diploma certificate verification method which is the digital method of verification.
Similar to that, CBSE has introduced blockchain technology, to cater to the board students for a much safer, and tamper free result.

Recently CBSE introduces blockchain technology and this introduction is said to revolutionize the education industry. Blockchain is now the hot topic and with very little time it has reached the educational industry in India. This system of smart contracts in blockchain is aimed to decrease the amount of tampering that happens in the board results. Now time will tell how far this system will succeed.
